Dal 2012 oltre ai film in uscita con la distribuzione ordinaria proporremo anche una speciale sezione dedicata al film documentari e ai film d'autore, rigorosamente in lingua con sottotitoli in italiano. Il film racconta della rivolta attuata nel carcere nordirlandese di Maze all’alba degli anni Ottanta, quando i detenuti dell’IRA, per costringere il governo inglese a dargli lo status di prigionieri politici, diedero prima il via ad uno sciopero dell’igiene e successivamente, per iniziativa di Bobby Sands, ad uno sciopero della fame che portò alla morte dello stesso Sands e di altri nove detenuti. Vincitore a Cannes della Caméra d’Or nella sezione Un certain Regard.

La giovane ereditiera americana Isabel Archer, in viaggio a Firenze, si innamora di Gilbert Osmond, uomo di mondo e amante d’arte senza scrupoli che la sposa per interesse. Il matrimonio è un fallimento e Isabel si sente schiacciata dall’ipocrisia del marito, in forte contrasto con il suo spirito indipendente e concreto. Paragone tra la società americana, piena di energia e attenta all’essenziale, e quella europea, decadente e futile.

An imprisoned vampire, Barnabas Collins, is set free and returns to his ancestral home, where his dysfunctional descendants are in need of his protection. Adattamento della celebre ed omonima serie televisiva andata in onda negli Stati Uniti dal 1966 al 1971. Una sorta di soap opera gotica e orrorifica, popolata di mostri, streghe, vampiri ed altre creature oscure.

Zabriskie Point è il punto di massima depressione geologica negli Stati uniti. Qui, s’incrociano i destini di due ragazzi in fuga con un aereo rubato. Nel paesaggio spettrale di questo luogo, i due trascorrono lunghe ore d'amore prima di riprendere la fuga. Il film è il manifesto della crisi della società odierna, sogno impossibile di chi fugge dal consumismo e lo annienta solo nell'immaginazione.

Il giornalista Paul Kemp, stanco della confusione di New York e delle pesanti convenzioni sociali dell'Ame- rica negli ultimi anni, si trasferisce a Puerto Rico per scrivere su un quotidiano locale, The San Juan Star. Incontra Sanderson, ricco uomo d'affari implicato in loschi investimenti immobiliari, deciso a trasformare l'incontaminata Puerto Rico in un paradiso capitalistico e assume Kemp per scriverne il progetto.

Per curare l’insonnia dovuta allo stress della routine quotidiana, un giovane frequenta i gruppi di supporto per malati terminali. Incontra poi Tyler Durden, col quale inizia una relazione a tre con Marla Singer, e per sfogare la loro aggressività repressa i due iniziano a picchiarsi “in amicizia”. L’idea fa proseliti e nasce il Fight Club. Tratto dall’omonimo romanzo di Chuck Palahniuk, Fight Club è una critica esplicita allo stile di vita americano, espressione del disagio e del consumismo della società contemporanea.
